Litigate. Educate. Advocate.

Litigate

The Barbara McDowell Social Justice Center provides high-quality legal representation in social justice cases to underserved and underrepresented communities across the country.

We currently work with dedicated volunteer attorneys under the direction of a Senior Litigation Director to protect the civil rights of our constituents and defend them with the same quality enjoyed by the wealthy and large corporations. In the future, the Center will add staff attorneys to our team. Learn more about the Volunteer Attorney Corps here.

Educate

The Barbara McDowell Social Justice Center educates the public on civil rights issues through a variety of media formats such as articles, videos, blogs, podcasts, speeches, and presentations.

We also educate young persons in our schools, colleges, and universities on civil rights issues and the role that high-impact litigation plays in achieving social justice.

Advocate

The Barbara McDowell Social Justice Center conducts and coordinates state and national issue advocacy to promote, protect, and defend the civil rights of underrepresented communities.

We partner and collaborate with social justice organizations to educate the public about how to achieve the greatest impact in accomplishing social justice.

We do not engage in direct or grassroots lobbying as a substantial part of our activities, nor do we participate in, or intervene in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office. No part of our net earnings will inure the benefit of any private shareholder or individual.
